Compound Cell Converter

Used to convert existing BXC library of elements stored as Compound Cells to new Functional Cells.

  • File > Utilities > Part Utilities > Compound Cell Converter


The upgrade utility converts selected compound cells data that is in the form of Cells, 2D Symbols and perforators into PC Studio Cells adhering to required content format of MicroStation where the plan symbol being converted to Named Presentation. The utility creates a *.cel file (Parametric solid) in the current folder.

This utility provides you with the ability to modify objects more easily:
  • Convert nested cells to forms
    • The cell-within-a-cell structure is difficult to edit
  • Convert symbols to Named Representation of a similar name/view angle
    • Top, Bottom, Front, Back, Left, Right, Model
  • Convert old Perforator functionality to new perforator functionality
SettingDescription
Add Files Opens the windows file explorer Open dialog where you can navigate to a folder and select files to be converted. The default file types: BXC.
Add Folder Opens the Browse for Folder dialog where you can navigate in file system and select desired folder to convert the cells in it.
Files being Modified Lists the files being selected. The list box builds file list. You can select a file or more to remove, when required.
Remove Removes the selected files from the list.

  • Cancel – Closes and exits the conversion utility.
  • Process – Completes the conversion of compound cell assignments. Performs the requested changes, removes all files from the file list, and keeps the dialog open.
  • Process and Close – Completes the conversion process and closes the dialog.
The Process buttons activate after at least one file is selected, and at least one conversion is made for selected cell.
